WELCOME TO THE BERGEN COUNTY AMERICAN LEGION WEBSITE

Please logon to the Pepsi Refresh Project website at www.refresheverything.com and support the The American Legion Legacy scholarship fund "Its the least we can do".  The American Legion Legacy Scholarship benefits college-bound students whose mom or dad lost their lives serving in the U.S. Armed Forces since 9/11.  You can locate the Legacy Scholarship fund by typing "Legion" in the search field.

The voting for the month ends on the 31st and the top two ideas receive 250,000 dollars each.  In previous months we have come in around the 40s.  We need the whole American Legion family, Legion/AUX/SAL/Riders to logon and vote everyday to support these children of our fallen comrades.  Spread the word throughout your community, it only takes a minute and "It is the least we can do."

The American Legion Preamble.

FOR GOD AND COUNTRY WE ASSOCIATE OURSELVES TOGETHER FOR THE FOLLOWING PURPOSES:

To uphold and defend the Constitution of the United States of America; to maintain law and order; to foster and perpetuate a one hundred percent Americanism; to preserve the memories and incidents of our associations in the Great Wars; to inculcate a sense of individual obligation to the community, state and nation; to combat the autocracy of both the classes and the masses; to make right the master of might; to promote peace and goodwill on earth; to safeguard and transmit to posterity the principles of justice, freedom and democracy; to consecrate and sanctify our comradeship by our devotion to mutual helpfulness.

COMMANDERS WELCOME MESSAGE:

Leagionnaires,

Durning the past six months, I have had the high privilege of commanding this great Bergen County Organization of the American Legion of New Jersey. The experience has been one of the most interesting and gratifying time I have has as a Legionnaire. I am confident that each and every one will agree that no one could have had a finer privilege than that of serving this country.

With that said, let us remember our passing Commander Frederick J. Marston. Who will always be with us in memory.

Now that I have this privilege this year as being County Commander, let us strive to work together to accomplish being number 1 in this state. Please remember that we are all one family. We must not let any post stand alone or any of our members. Let us continue to help our troops who will be returning home. I want to thank all of you who have contributed to the needs of our family of Veterans. For all of you who haven't had the opportunity to help there is still time to give a helping hand.

I would like to thank the Ladies Auxiliary for their fine work in the County. Withouit their support a lot of the Veterans would not have there needs met. I also want to thank the Sons of the American Legion for their assistance and help throughout the County. Again, Legion programs and Legionnaires have benefited from their support.

For God and Country,

Michael Lewis Sr.

Bergen County Commander
